Members of the Acceletronics team are leaving the cold of the northeast and heading across the globe to the Arab Health Congress in sunny and warm Dubai. The Congress is made up of 19 different health care conferences ranging from public health and quality management to wound care and urology.
Acceletronics won’t be exhibiting this year since it’s the company’s first visit. Instead the team is going as attendees to learn more about the demand for linear accelerators in the Middle East and Africa. The company has noticed an increased volume of service requests and inquiries from that area in recent months.
Services are already available in India, but Acceletronics CEO Steve Schwarz is hoping the company can expand to more corners of the world.
“We want to learn who is interested in our other services, how we can register to do business in the various countries and start planning to deliver our equipment to them,” Schwarz said.
The global expansion of the company could be complemented with Acceletronics’ broadening focus. Schwarz said the company is working now to complement their core foundation built on radiation treatment for cancer by offering and servicing other radiation therapy equipment.
Traveling to Dubai will be a new experience for many in the Acceletronics family. An employee, who is from the area, will act as the group’s guide for the trip.
“It will be nice to have someone in our company who can show us around,” Schwarz said. “As much as we are looking forward to working over there, it will be nice to learn more about the Middle East from someone we know.”
Whatever they see in Dubai, the company expects to return to the United States with plenty of knowledge and ideas for the future.
“We’re visiting, but we’ll also be meeting with potential clients and other companies,” Schwarz said. “We may partner with another company to get a sense of the market size over there. We’re already planning our strategy to expand and we’re very excited about the prospects.”
